I am a Democratic Candidate for the Historic 35th District of Clay Co. Missouri which includes the cities of Kearney, Smithville, Missouri City, Holt ,Mosby, Pleasant Valley,and Nashua
.
I WAS BORN IN JUNE OF 1940 ON A SMALL FARM OUTSIDE OF HOLT, MISSOURI. I attended one of the last one room country schoolhouses in CLAY COUNTY better known as CRACKER-NECK or (Pleasant Grove).
I graduated from KEARNEY High School in 1958 and attended CMSU in Warrensburg, Missouri.
In 1962 I married Sandra S. Green of Excelsior Springs. We have 3 sons. Steve is owner of an independent insurance business in Kearney; Rodney is an Army Reservist (having been deployed overseas). He is also a career firefighter and IAFF union member in Grandview; Tracy is an independent electrician. Sandy and I have 3 grandaughters and 3 grandsons.
I have worked our small family farm all my life. I have been an owner and operater of a wholesale/retail business for 40 yrs. (BUSY "B" STORE)
I have been a scout leader, long time member of the IOOF lodge, served on the Holt city council, helped form the Holt Merchants Association, was a founding member of the Holt community Historic Association and
I have served my community as a volunteer firefighter and volunteer ambulance attendant for the Holt Community Fire protection District. I am currently serving on the Clay County Historic Millenium board.
We are members of and attend the Woodland Baptist Church south of Mosby.
My interests are studying Clay County history. One of my projects is recording old barns of historic value in the county.
I see the need for change in the direction that our state government is heading. I see the need for a change in the way local representation is being provided. I see the need for a grassroots candidate; a candidate that will honor, respect and listen to the views and concerns of ALL of its citizens.
I Jim Baldwin, as a representive of the rural 35th district will HONOR, RESPECT and LISTEN to the views of ALL its citizens....
